A rainy Central Texas night won't stop us from delivering a standout edition of Sports Night.

Though some high school games were rained out, a number of them went on as scheduled. We'll show you all the highlights.

It's Thursday, so the Friday Forecast is an obligatory part of the show. The TWC News sports team will make its picks for Friday's big games.

It may be a bye week for Charlie Strong and his team, but there's still plenty of storylines surrounding the Longhorns. Hear extended thoughts from the UT coach.

And nearly two weeks after stepping down as Rangers manager, Ron Washington addresses the media and explains what led him to quit.

Those stories and many more are one click away on this edition of Sports Night.

Tough news for Texas quarterback David Ash. After battling concussion symptoms for years, the fourth-year junior decided to give up the game of football. More bad news for the Longhorns, defensive lineman Desmond Jackson is done for the year with a foot injury. He got hurt during the UCLA game. Also Wednesday, UT announced a home-and-home football series in 2024 and 2027 with Michigan.

We chat with Chip Brown of HornsDigest.com on adjustments the Texas football team needs to make during their bye week, plus look forward to some of the Big 12 games this weekend.

We also get you caught up on all the madness involving athletes breaking the law. From UT basketball player Martez Walker's second arrest, to Adrian Peterson and Jonathan Dwyer.

All that plus Joaquin Sanchez catches up with middle blocker Molly McCage from the second-ranked UT volleyball team.

The Texas football team started the season 1-2 for the second straight year. But even in the loss, there is a lot to feel good about for the Longhorns. They were much more competitive against the 12th-ranked Bruins. Chip Brown weighs in on the Longhorns loss. He talks about the good, the bad, and the ugly from Saturday in Arlington.

Texas State lost to Navy by a couple touchdowns over the weekend, but they took a loss on the depth chart as well. Starting linebacker Michael Orakpo tore his ACL and MCL. Coach Fran confirmed Tuesday that he will miss the rest of the season.

UTSA started their season with three of the toughest games around. The Roadrunners shocked Houston before losses to Arizona and then Oklahoma State. Travis Recek explains why the bye week came at a good time for the 'Runners.

All that plus we hear from The Voice of the Baylor Bears, John Morris. He talks about the young speedster KD Cannon, Bryce Petty's injury, and what to expect going forward from the defending Big 12 champs.

It's inspiration Monday on this edition of Sports Night. Travis Recek brings you the story of a charitable running back on the Boerne Champion roster, plus we sit down with revolutionary entrepreneur, and founder of #besomebody, Kash Shaikh. We talk about the passion-based movement and even a way you can get involved in Austin, at the first #besomebody weekend next month. Info for that one-of-a-kind event can be found on their website at besomebodyblog.com.

A group needing some inspiration are the Longhorns, who have a bye this week. We catch Charlie Strong on the Big 12 teleconference, who said his team is learning lessons as they look to recharge this week. Plus, we take a closer look at Tyrone Swoopes' performance, and his many improvements against UCLA Saturday, and examine who's name was added to the Texas injury list.

The Longhorns next contest will be their first conference game against Kansas next week. Blair Kerkhoff of the Kansas City Star joins us to give us an extra-early look ahead to the Longhorns visit to Lawrence next weekend.

It was a rain-soaked early evening kicking off the third week of the high school blitz, but the rain clouds cleared out and made way for some solid football action.

Steele remained unbeaten with a hard-fought win over O'Connor and Georgetown knocked off Pflugerville in our Austin area game of the week.

Elsewhere, Lake Travis made short work of Hays, Brennan shut out Manor, Cedar Ridge with a victory over Shoemaker and Brandeis beat Hendrickson.
