We're one week into the season and players are already dropping like flies. We already knew Texas center Dom Espinosa would be out after injuring his ankle, but at his press conference Monday morning, Charlie Strong announced starting quarterback David Ash will also be out for an undetermined amount of time, after he told his coaches he was suffering from headaches and other symptoms after Saturday's game against North Texas.

Strong says Ash called the coaches late Saturday night after they had all gone home, to tell Stong he thought one of the hits he sustained in the game caused him some familiar symptoms, and Strong said after further evaluation, Ash will not be playing this week. We have a full break down of the injury, and what we know so far, as well as a look at Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard, the two backups who will replace Ash in the BYU game on Saturday. Charlie and the team talk about the confidence they have in the two young backups.

We also take a look at Baylor's win over SMU in the new McLane Stadium, and some back pain Bryce Petty was feeling after that game. UTSA also had quite the weekend blowing out Houston, and our Travis Recek has a recap of that epic victory as well.

All that and much much more in this eventful Monday edition of Sports Night.

The Friday Night Lights were glowing as Texas welcomed back high school football. The Austin area powers didn't fare so well in their openers, while the San Antonio superpowers took care of business.

Lake Travis fell to Waco Midway while Westlake and Rouse also started 2014 in the "L" column. In the San Antonio area, Brennan and Alamo Heights were able to come out victorious.

20 plus games from across the region, this is the High School Blitz.

Tuesday, UT quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson met with the media. He did not hesitate when talking about the skill David Ash showed during Fall camp. Watson said Ash has the offense down perfectly, now it is about translating that to the field. Also of note, Watson said he expects wide receiver Jaxon Shipley to the play in Saturday's season opener. The senior has been limited with a hamstring injury.
