Ryan Brown is a standout tennis player for the Lake Travis Cavaliers, but her success on the court hasn't come without a significant struggle off the court.

Brown was a normal sophomore on Lake Travis’ tennis team, but one day she suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction. She was rushed to Dell Children’s Hospital and was told by doctors that it was likely a very rare reaction, but to keep an eye out.

One week later, the teen was playing in the number one spot for Cavaliers at the Region Tennis Finals. Doctors cleared her to play, but her condition worsened throughout the day.

Amazingly, Brown won her match, but what followed was the toughest match she'd ever play.

It took more than six months to discover the source of the tennis star’s severe reactions--fragrances and gluten. With the help of a homeopathic doctor, she's changed her diet and learned to manage her allergies.

"You can't quit. Have to push past it and get through it,” Brown said. “Every time I hit a ball, I'm conquering something.”
