AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas opened its 40th regular season of Women's Basketball with a 63-42 win over UTSA on Sunday afternoon at the Frank Erwin Center.
Texas (1-0) improved to 36-4 in all-time home openers with the help of a double-double from sophomore Imani McGee-Stafford and a game-high 18 points from senior Chassidy Fussell.
McGee-Stafford came off the bench to score 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting with 12 rebounds and five blocks in 22 minutes of play for her 14th career double-double. Fussell drained all six free throw attempts and shot 5-of-12 from the field.
The Longhorns never trailed on Sunday, starting with an 11-0 run and taking a 30-point lead -- the largest lead of the game -- with under eight minutes remaining.
Sophomore Brady Sanders grabbed seven rebounds with six points during her second-career start. Junior newcomer Krystle Henderson started her first game as a Longhorn at point guard, finishing with seven points and one assist in 31 minutes.
Tesha Smith came off the bench to lead the Roadrunners with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Longhorns return to the Erwin Center to play host to Texas State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Central on Longhorn Network.
