The Austin High Maroons are a team in transition with a new coach and many new faces.

Gone is four-star receiver Cayleb Jones who graduated with a football scholarship to the University of Texas. Now another member of the Jones family steps into the spotlight.

This year, Isaiah Jones begins his senior season with Austin High bigger, faster and stronger than ever before, literally growing into a leader of the Maroons rebuilding effort.

"The funny thing about Isaiah was three years ago when he was a freshman he was about five-foot three, 130 pounds so he's really grown, he's about six-two, 170 pounds," Maroons head coach Mike Rosenthal said.

Isaiah's size is only one side of the story. Football runs in Jones' family blood. Last season, Isaiah played side-by-side with his highly recruited brother Cayleb. The Jones brothers play the same position giving Isaiah a valuable mentor on and off the field.

"Cayleb's always helped me with my routes and all that stuff. He just tells me to be a leader out there, stay calm and just go out there and play football, it's the game we love," said Jones.

"I think they're pretty similar talent-wise. They're both great kids, they both come from a great family they both are extreamley competitive and work hard," said Rosenthal.

Isaiah's hard work earned a scholarship offer from East Carolina University, the same school his father Robert played for before a career in the NFL.

Isaiah verbally committed to East Carolina over the summer, ending his recruiting visits, so he could concentrate on one more season carrying on the family name at Austin High.

"For now I'm just going to stay focused with my team here and just enjoy these last couple of months here with my teammates and winning games," said Jones.
