The University of Texas basketball team will have at least 11 of its 18 Big 12 Conference games televised nationally during the 2012-13 regular season, the school announced today following the release of the league schedule. UT previously announced its non-conference slate in late May.
For the second straight year, the Big 12 Conference schedule features a double round-robin format consisting of 18 games, with league members playing each other twice. UT will open conference play with a matchup at Baylor on Saturday, Jan. 5 and conclude league action at Texas Tech on Saturday, March 9.
In league play, the Longhorns will be featured five times on ESPN (Jan. 21 at Oklahoma on “Big Monday,” Feb. 4 at West Virginia on “Big Monday,” Feb. 16 at Kansas as part of ESPN’s College GameDay Covered by State Farm and Saturday Primetime Presented by DIRECTV telecasts, March 2 at Oklahoma State and March 4 vs. Baylor on “Big Monday”) and three times on ESPN2 (Jan. 9 vs. West Virginia, Jan. 30 at Kansas State and Feb. 27 vs. Oklahoma). Texas also will make two appearances on ESPNU (Jan. 5 at Baylor and Jan. 12 at Iowa State) and one appearance on CBS (Jan. 19 vs. Kansas).
Four conference games will be aired by the regionally-syndicated Big 12 Network (Feb. 9 vs. Oklahoma State, Feb. 13 vs. Iowa State, Feb. 19 at TCU and March 9 at Texas Tech). Formerly presented as being telecast by ESPN Plus, Big 12 Network games will be seen throughout the conference’s geographic footprint and beyond. The affiliate stations for the games carried by the Big 12 Network will be announced at a later date.
In addition, Longhorn Network will televise three Big 12 Conference contests this year (Jan. 26 vs. Texas Tech, Feb. 2 vs. TCU and Feb. 23 vs. Kansas State).
UT’s complete television schedule for the 2012-13 season will be announced at a later date.
