Tuesday, UT quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson met with the media. He did not hesitate when talking about the skill David Ash showed during Fall camp. Watson said Ash has the offense down perfectly, now it is about translating that to the field. Also of note, Watson said he expects wide receiver Jaxon Shipley to the play in Saturday's season opener. The senior has been limited with a hamstring injury.

As our countdown of Big 12 schools continues, we preview the Oklahoma State Cowboys. John Moss of KTUL in Tulsa joins the show to chat about the Pokes.

Down in San Antonio, Larry Coker is hoping to keep all the players from his area in town. He wants UTSA to take a stronghold of South Texas recruiting. Our Travis Recek has that story.

All that plus high school football previews of the Lehman Lobos and the Harlandale Indians.

We go heavy on the Texas sports in this edition of Sports Night. On the gridiron, new football coach Charlie Strong and his Longhorns are counting down the days until they get to hit someone not wearing burnt orange. UT basketball coach Rick Barnes gets a contract extension and so does baseball coach Augie Garrido. Jerritt Elliott and his Texas volleyball start the season ranked number two in the nation. He sits down with our Mike Berman in-studio to chat about the upcoming season.

We talk TCU football with Travis L. Brown from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The Horned Frogs are looking to rebound after a disappointing 2013 campaign.

Texas State has a ton of depth in their backfield. Robert Lowe, Terrence Franks, and Chris Nutall are all upperclassmen running backs with a lot of experience. Joaquin Sanchez explains why having a trio of ball-carriers is something the Bobcats are looking forward to.

All that plus high school previews of the Round Rock Dragons and the Madison Mavericks.

Cleveland quarterback Johnny Manziel continues to make news. This time, at least, it was on the field, but not related to his play. Johnny Football flicked off the Washington Redskins during Monday Night Football. He talks about that move in this edition of Sports Night.

Elsewhere in the football world, Tyler Jones solidified himself as the Texas State starting quarterback. The sophomore impressed last season and continues to improve heading into 2014. Joaquin Sanchez profiles the Bobcats signal-caller.

Our tour of the Big 12 continues with Iowa State. The Cyclones are picked to finish ninth in the conference, but they bring in a new offensive coordinator in Mark Mangino. Paul Rhoads and his staff expect that to add excitement when they have the ball. We catch up with Ames Tribune sports editor Bobby La Gesse to talk Cyclones.

All that plus UTSA's Larry Coker answers our ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and we preview Stony Point and Churchill in the high school ranks.
