One local restaurant chain has learned that creative thinking can really pay off.

About a year ago, Doug Guller, founder of the Austin-Based restaurant chain Bikinis Bar and Grill, bought a ghost town and renamed it Bikinis, Texas after his restaurants.

Several months after that, Guller threw a major party which brought the town to life and brought a lot of publicity across the nation. He says that publicity brought with it a 10 percent boost in revenue.

Colin Pope, editor of the Austin Business Journal, said that’s a move which hasn’t really been seen in the business world, but seems to be working for Guller.
