If you're looking for a way to avoid retail nightmares this holiday season, you might consider knitting your gifts instead of buying them.

Those who don't know how to knit need not fret – Lindsay Buster of Hill Country Weavers said the skill is pretty easy to pick up.

"I learned in an afternoon," Buster said. "So maybe a couple of hours."

Buster added that even though she gets distracted pretty easily, knitting is a hobby of hers because of its calming effect.

"It relaxes me," she said. "When I first learned, I was really tense about it, but now that I've gotten used to it, it almost puts me to sleep sometimes."

Hill Country Weavers is located on South Congress. For a list of workshops and lessons, visit ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
