Construction is moving along on the new In-N-Out Burger shop in Central Austin.
Located just to the west side of the railroad tracks at 45th street and Airport Boulevard, the much-anticipated fast food restaurant is expected to congest an intersection already known know for traffic problems.
By phone, city officials told YNN that In-N-Out Burger met all zoning requirements for the location, meaning a traffic impact study was not needed before construction could begin.
Elisa Trevino, at student at the University of Texas, lives near the location. While she welcomes new development up and down this stretch of road, she is concerned about congestion.
"A lot of people are really excited about it,” she said. “But I do think it's going to pick up a lot of traffic."
Cristina Hess works at an automotive shop at the corner of I-35 and Airport. She's happy to see workers building the popular west coast burger shop next door.
"We're a really convenient location for the customers,” she said. “So if they need work done while they are waiting on a burger we can do that.”
There are two other In-N-Out locations in the works as well—one in Round Rock and another in Cedar Park.
