Death at South Austin gas station ruled murder; suspect charged

Austin Police have issued charges in the stabbing death of a 42-year-old man found outside the Valero gas station at 6009 East Ben White Blvd. on Tuesday morning.

An autopsy performed Wednesday confirmed Bryan Kenneth Labay, found dead at the scene just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, died of sharp force injuries.

Police arrested suspect Mark Anthony Ramirez on Friday for criminal trespass of a motor vehicle. According to police, Ramirez was splattered with blood and in the possession of a bloody folding knife at the time of his arrest.

After further investigation, police charged Ramirez with murder, a felony of the first degree. He is held at the Travis County Jail on $350,000 bond.
