Every Sunday at the Saxon Pub, musicians like Owen Temple volunteer their time and talent for soldiers dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Soldier Songs and Voices is a nonprofit on a mission to help veterans wounded from war heal with music.

"Music is perfect for this because we need to hear their story because some of us were not over there," Temple said.

Active duty Sgt. Shawn Dunham served two tours in Iraq, logging 27 months in combat zones. Dunham says psychologists cannot teach what he learns in his weekly therapeutic jam session.

"Nothing compares to coming here with these guys and ladies, sitting down, picking up a guitar and just playing," Sgt. Dunham said.

Following four combat tours and 39 months at war, Army Spc. Gregory Triplett sought professional help for his diagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder.

"I've been dealing with a lot of issues and personally have gone to personal therapy, one-on-one group sessions, and it hasn't helped as much as this has,” he said.

Instruments and lessons are provided free to veterans of all wars. Funds are raised through private donations. Click here for more information.
