It's probably something you don't want to think about, but flu season has arrived.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, flu activity can start as early as October and continue as late as May.

Doctors recommend constantly washing your hands and getting the flu vaccine to protect yourself.

The flu vaccine is administered each year because the strains can change each season.

"They took some of the most prevalent types from last year and also what they anticipate to see this year and they picked the top three strains and that is what making up this year's flu virus," physician Dr. Edward Lee said.

Free Flu shots will be offered at St. David's Emergency Center in Bee Cave from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or until supplies last.

Wednesday, St. David's will offer shots in Bastrop. On Thursday, they will be available in Kyle.
