Austin's Escoffier School of the Culinary Arts broke ground Thursday for a new Agriculture Learning Center.

The location for the 6,000 square foot facility is in north Austin on Dillard Circle.

School officials say the launch of the new center will enhance the students learning experience in a unique environment.

"And this will allow the students of our school to grow, cultivate and harvest fresh produce that they can use in their classroom each and every day,” Education President Paul Ryan said. “That's one of the great things about Austin is that we have a year round agricultural season."

School officials say Escoffier is only culinary school to have the registration of being a culinary school with a farm-to-table designation.
