This fall, two major events happen that could potentially change Caldwell County forever—the U.S. Grand Prix and the opening of State Highway 130.
"We have waited with great anticipation for these events to happen and we can only imagine what fruits it will bear for Caldwell County," Caldwell County Judge Tom Bonn said.
Both events are just months away.
"So now that we are finishing everything will be much better and we will achieve that goal of opening on time."
“Now that we are finishing, everything will be much better and we will achieve that goal of opening on time," Javier Gutierrez, CEO of the SH-130 Concession Company, said.
The highway is expected to be finished sometime in October and plans for development along the road are already on the books.
The city says it's prepared.
"That's the first question, a developer comes in, 'Are you prepared if I want to come to town?'”Lockhart Mayor Lew White said. “We are in great shape."
The city's hotels are filling up for the November Grand Prix and the city is positioning itself to be a destination for F1 fans and fans of the other events held at the Circuit of the Americas.
"The message is we are ready. We are ready for industry, we are ready for jobs, we are ready for growth," Judge Bonn said.
More than 350 people attended a Lockhart economic development Corporation event Friday. Organizers say that's double the number of attendees they've seen in past years
