Earlier -- Austin police are investigating another traffic death involving a pedestrian.

A man was struck and killed by a car in East Austin about 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to police, the man was changing a tire on a vehicle along the 1700 block of Deloney Street, between Martin Luther King Drive and Springdale Drive, when he was hit by a car.

The man was taken to the University Medical Center Brackenridge where he later died.

Police say the man was working in front of his house.

"Officers gather that the vehicle was traveling southbound on Deloney. The vehicle struck the pedestrian as he was working on his vehicle," APD Sr. Officer Craig Smith said.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The driver was arrested on an alcohol-related charge. It is unknown at this time if the arrest was related to the traffic death.
