July 4th holiday prompts another ‘No-Refusal’ initiative by APD

APD announced Tuesday it plans to launch a ‘No Refusal’ initiative for the Independence Day holiday.

During ‘No Refusal,’ any driver pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving must submit a breath test or get a court-ordered blood draw.

State law says anyone with a blood school concentration at or above .15 will be charged with a Class A misdemeanor, and could face up to one year and jail and $4,000 fine for first year offenders.

According to APD, about 26 percent of last year’s traffic fatalities were alcohol-related.

The July 4th "No Refusal" initiative will start 9 p.m. Wednesday and continues through 5 a.m. Thursday. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
