Laura Hall's latest appeal in a West Campus murder case has been denied.
Hall's attempt to appeal was based on an investigation of the Austin Police Department's forensics lab.
A former employee of the lab has alleged the quality of their work is questionable.
Court documents show that on top of denying the appeal, the judge said that due to the initial lab results coming back negative for her DNA, re-examining the lab’s work could actually hurt her case.
In 2010, Hall was sentenced to 10 years in prison for tampering with evidence in the murder of a student in West Campus.
She was convicted of helping University of Texas student Colton Pitonyak mutilate the body of Jennifer Cave.
Pitonyak is currently serving a 55-year sentence for the murder.
