Hot-air balloons stood tall to honor those who served.

A Veterans Day Memorial Balloon Glow took place at the Cook-Walden Cemetery in
Pflugerville Saturday night. The balloons and their pilots are part of the Central Texas Ballooning Association.

The event was dedicated to a veteran balloon pilot who recently died. Many said the event was just something magical.

"A lot of people end up coming out and usually it's people with kids, to see the balloon, to see what it is because they're big and colorful and we float in from the sky and like I say, we kind of create magic wherever we go," Balloon pilot Bruce Lavorgna said.

In ballooning terms, fully inflating a balloon is called “standing a balloon," so the event’s theme was born out of that concept. It was meant to match the theme of the Patriot Guard Riders, who were also in attendance.

Their motto is to stand for others, who have stood for us. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
