Texas Round-up - Austin
It's time for Austin's 6th annual Texas Round-up 10K/5K. Day of registration begins at 6 a.m. at N. Congress Avenue and 17th Street. All proceeds go toward the GetFitTexas and FitKids programs to support their fight against obesity.

Spring Festival and Rummage Sale - Austin
The Crockett High School band is having its annual spring festival and rummage sale. All proceeds will go towards the band program. Stop by between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. to enjoy the live music and shopping. The festival will be at 5601 Manchaca Rd.

Free Heart Screenings for Young Athletes - Round Rock
Seton Medical Center Williamson is offering a free heart screening to student athletes ages 14 through 18. Stop by the center between 8 a.m. and noon to participate; no appointments are necessary. The center is located at 201 Seton Pkway in Round Rock.

Red Poppy Festival - Georgetown
Georgetown is celebrating the arrival of spring and the blossoming of red poppies. Come out at 8 a.m. for the Red Poppy Ride around town, or dress up in red for the parade which kicks off at 10 a.m. There will be other events and musical performances throughout the day, so head to the Web site for a complete schedule of events.

Rowing Dock Celebration - Austin
The Rowing Dock on Town Lake is turning 10, and there's a party to celebrate. The free event runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2418 Stratford Dr. Guests can help themselves to free food, t-shirts and boat rental at a discounted $10/hr rate.

Wiener Dog Races - Buda
It's that time of year again. Stop by the Buda City Park and watch the qualifying rounds of the Weiner Dog Races. Activities start at 9 a.m., and there will also be a BBQ and chili cookoff.

Electronics Recycling - San Marcos
Here's a chance to get rid of some old electronics and clear up some space on your home. Stop by Bobcat Stadium between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to recycle old electronics for free. Small TVs, computers, cell phones, printers, fax machines, speakers, stereos, CD players and more are all accepted.

Free Toilet Giveaway - Austin
April is Earth Month, and you can do your share by replacing your current toilets with new high-efficiency toilets. Stop by Fiesta Mart from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with your water utility bill to get free vouchers for up to three toilets. For more information, head to the city of Austin's Web site.

Health Fair - Waco
The city of Waco is hosting a free health fair at Bledsoe-Miller Recreation Center. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to noon and features local agencies who will come and discuss the importance for good health. Stop by and learn some tips on staying healthy.

Bark-n-Purr Fest - Georgetown
The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is holding this event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children can enjoy pony rides and train rides while pets can receive low-cost vaccinations and microchipping. If you don't yet have a furry friend, you can also stop by and adopt one. The shelter is located at 1855 S.E. Inner Loop, and you can call 512-943-3322 for more information.

Dragon Boat Festival and Races - Austin
Head out to Festival Beach and help celebrate the Chinese Duanwu Jie holiday. The free event features music, dance performances and dragon boat races. Festival Beach is located at the northeast corner of Lady Bird Lake, and the event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Roar at the River Bike Show and Rally - San Marcos
It's the 2nd annual Roar at the River Bike Show and Rally at the San Marcos City Park. The free event goes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features live music, bike show, chili cook-off, prize money and more. All proceeds benefit Hays County scholarships.

Art on the Square - San Marcos
Help support local artists as they showcase and sell their creations at Saturday's Art on the Square. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. around the courthouse square in downtown San Marcos.

Dia de Los Ninos - Elgin
Elgin City Hall is hosting a First Bloom Art Show along with the public library's Dia de Los Ninos. Stroll around, soak up some art and enjoy some music while you're at it. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Kids Art Show - Austin
Arbor Montessori Academy celebrates its Spring Festival with some art created by students ages 15 months to 6 years. Stop by 11726 Jollyville Rd. between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to visit the school, view some talented young artists and participate in crafts, games, food and more.

Heart of Texas Community Tailgate - Waco
Baylor University is hosting a free event at the Baylor Ballpark to show the school's appreciation for the Central Texas community. The event begins at 11 a.m. and there's a chance to win free admission tickets to the Baylor vs. Oklahoma baseball game scheduled at 1 p.m. Fore more information, you can call (254) 710-1421.

Dia de la Familia - Austin
ACC is holding its 3rd annual Dia de la Familia Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Riverside Campus. The free event celebrates the community and family and also offers a good chance to learn more about the school. The campus is located at 1020 Grove Blvd.

Nameless School Centennial BBQ - Leander
To celebrate the 100th birthday of Nameless School, the Lake Travis Extension Education Association is holding a celebration at the school. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 through 12. The school doesn't have an address but is located on Nameless Road, just 1.3 miles from the intersection with FM 1431. For more information, call (512) 267-1455.

Maifest Celebration - Austin
The German-Texan Heritage Society is holding its 14th annual Maifest Celebration at 507 E. 10th St. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature a marionette show, student performances and even a Maypole.

Eeyore's 46th Birthday - Austin
It's time to celebrate the birthday of our favorite depressed donkey. The 46th birthday party for Eeyore will be held at Pease Park from 11 a.m. until dark. Admissions is free, and there will be face painting, music and contests. For more information, visit the Web site.

Lone Star Jam - Austin
The Randy Rogers Band, the Eli Young Band and other artists will be jamming at Waterloo Park this Saturday. Gates open at noon, and everyone's invited. Aquarena Earth Day Celebration - San Marcos
Texas State University-San Marcos is holding its 3rd annual Earth Day Celebration at the Aquarena Center. The fun runs from noon to 6 p.m., and the free event includes live music, recreational activities and speakers. Student Film Expo - Austin
The Student Film Expo will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dougherty Arts Center. A panel discussion will kick off the event and then a showcase of youth-produced films will follow. For more information, visit the film festival's Web site.

Rhythm and Brews - Austin
Local bands, silent auction, food and entertainment all for $25. The 3rd annual Rhythm and Brews event will be held at Threadgill's downtown location from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Dell Children's Medical Center.

Mother/Son & Father/Daughter Dance - Austin
It's the annual father/daughter and mother/son dance at Northwest Recreation Center. It's $8 per couple, lasts from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and refreshments and pictures are provided. The center is located at 2913 Northland Dr.

One Prom, Two Prom, Red Prom, Re-prom - Austin
The Griffin School is holding its annual fundraiser from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Zilker Clubhouse. This year's theme honors Dr. Seuss as does the art on display. Tickets are only $15 in advance, and activities include music, food and a silent auction. For more information, check out the school's Web site.

Wiener Dog Races - Buda
It's that time of year again. Stop by the Buda City Park and watch the qualifying rounds of the Weiner Dog Races. Activities start at 9 a.m., and there will also be a BBQ and chili cookoff.

Caritas Food Drive - Austin
It's Caritas of Austin's 9th annual Faith and Community Food Drive. The event hopes to collect 20-thousand pounds of food which will all benefit the Caritas of Austin's Food Panty. If you're interested in donating, stop by 4425 Red River between noon and 3 p.m. to drop off your food.

Kites for Kids - Hutto
Stop by Hutto High School between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and join in the Kites for Kids event. The free event includes free kites for all children under the age of 12, inflatables, hot dogs, snow cones and more. For more information, visit this Web site.

Confederate Memorial Day - Austin
To celebrate Confederate History Month, the Descendants of Confederate Veterans will be honoring more than 2,000 Confederate veterans buried in the Texas State Cemetery. The event starts at 2 p.m., rain or shine, and will feature participants dressed in uniforms and a firing of the muskets.
