All systems are go for the Circuit of the Americas, but not before Travis County Commissioners received an earful of complaints Tuesday.

The commissioner’s court unanimously approved a mass gathering permit for Formula One’s U.S. Grand Prix in Elroy, located in the southeast portion of the county, this November.

"As opposed to a permit of mass gathering, I would call it a permit of mass hysteria," Elroy resident and F1 opponent Jim Dillon said.

Concerns over issues like traffic, noise and public safety spotlighted the mass gathering permit process.

"I have been trying to visualize how I am going to get in and out of my place on race days,” Elroy resident Dan Haywood said.

Judge Sam Biscoe's stamp of approval all but ensures the international race will roar into town in just a few short months.

"I find the plans for the event as described in the application and the reports that we receive today are adequate,” Judge Biscoe said.

Race promoters are building momentum as a race day moves closer.

"A large scale international event has a lot of moving parts to it, but we have a great planning process in place and we have gotten great cooperation from county and city staff and we will continue to go forward to this November," Steve Sexton with Circuit of the Americas said.

Still, there are some who want the process to slow down before promoters get too far down the road.

"If this were a rock concert I think you would deny this based solely on safety and it's incompleteness," Elroy resident Cathy Olive said.

Tickets for this year’s race will go on sale June 10.
