Time Warner Cable News Austin began cablecasting as News 8 Austin on September 13, 1999 and transitioned to YNN January 10, 2011. On December 16, 2013, YNN became Time Warner Cable News.

We are one of 12 local news channels that operate 24-hours day, 7 days a week nationwide. We’re owned and operated by Time Warner Cable, and we provide exclusive local news coverage to Time Warner Cable customers.

Our coverage area extends to more than 360,000 cable households from Liberty Hill to Temple, Fredericksburg to Smithville and throughout Central Texas.

Time Warner Cable News' five meteorologists operate from our “Weather on the 1s” forecast center, using the very latest weather gathering and severe storm-tracking technology to deliver your Allergy Count, Future Cast, Future Rain, Long Range Forecast, Coastal Forecast and much more. Higher resolution tools give our meteorologists the edge on better weather forecasts in an easier-to-read format.

Time Warner Cable's hourly program includes local sports twice an hour, and we offer the most comprehensive coverage of local sports in Central Texas. The Time Warner Cable Sports team is committed to covering the Texas Longhorns in Austin and on the road, as well as other beloved Central Texas teams from High School to the collegiate level. Our extensive Central Texas Sports show, Sports Night, previews the upcoming weekend of action and recaps all the week's sports highlights. You can find it Thursday's at 10 p.m. on Time Warner Cable.

Time Warner Cable's news team also delivers “news you can use” lifestyle features, including Off the Plate, Local Wonders, Out in the Garden, Fashionably Yours, Your Outdoors and many more.

We also feature a 30-minute newscast called "Capital Tonight," dedicated to all things political, five days a week. From the legislative houses of your State Capitol to the latest happenings at your city hall, "Capital Tonight" provides our viewers a closer look at politics through the eyes of our reporters, analysts and guest lawmakers and newsmakers. You can view this program Monday through Friday at 7 p.m. and rebroadcasts at 11 p.m. Find what's shaking from the Pink Dome in between shows through our Capital Roundup blog.

You can also find information on your traffic 24-hours a day. Time Warner Cable Traffic shows a rotation of the 20 most common camera views available by TxDOT, plus audio and text information of the latest area closures and detours. Time Warner Cable also airs continuous traffic updates every 10 minutes from 6 a.m. - 9 a.m. and then again from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Monday – Friday.
